And the winner is...

Going to be announced soon. I haven't been able to track down the official stats from the Peck/Marlette game and thus have been holding off on annoncing a winner, because bonus points could change things.
If anyone, like Spike, has the official numbers please pass them on. If I can't track them down, I'll just compute the final results and announce a winner sometime this weekend.

Hatchets advance in soccer post-season...

Bad Axe won the District title yesterday with a 1-0 win over Frankenmuth at Frankenmuth. They will compete in Regional action at Frankenmuth on Wednesday.

USA vs Pinconning pics

THEY'RE IN!!! USA secured their playoff spot with a 20-14 win over Pinconning last night. The only question is whether they will compete in D6 or D7 and who they will face. For the breakdown of all the playoff match-ups on Sunday, check out Cruise 102.1 right after the news, where Paul and Eddie will go through the playoff match-ups and Rick Glaza may call in as well. I will not be able to attend, although I have been advertised, due to a death in the family (my brother-in-law's mother died Thursday and I'll be out of town for the funeral Sunday night). Fighting for extra yards.

Week 9 picks...

Since this is the final week, the contest winner is going to have to earn it, much like an are team needing their sixth win will need to take care of business tonight to get in the post-season.
So like eeach week, pick the results of this game:
Ubly at Bad Axe
EPBP at Sandusky
Birch Run at Reese
CPS at Deckerville
Harbor Beach at New Haven
Owen-Gage at Ashley
Almont at Cass City
Memphis at Brown City
Mayville at Kingston
Pinconning at USA
Marlette at Peck
North Huron at Au Gres

Here's were the bonus points can be earned (it is up to you, whether to participate or not, but why not, it might help you win. Closest answer to each question gets the points, in the case of a tie, the bonus will be awarded to multiple times).

Total yards from Michael Mann against Marlette: 249

Total TDs by Mann against Marlette: 4

Total points combined from Peck and Marlette: 90

Total offensive yards combined from Peck and Marlette: 875

Not quite what I expected

I know I am not the only one who was shocked by today's 40-12 loss by North Huron to Peck. Not taking anything away from Peck, but heading in I just thought the Warriors appeared to be the more rounded team on paper. However, paper can be deceviing because stats showed the Pirates were a one man team with Mike Mann, but little did most of us know that Dontell Hamilton was perhaps the fastest running back in the area, as he had over 200 all purpose yards and four scores. These two teams might meet again in a District final in Division 8, so it will be interesting to see how it would turn out the next time around.
Kurt Dhyse nearly makes a one-hqanded grab.
Ed Wisneski makes a tackle.
Anthony Irvine tries to pick up some extra yards.

Anthony Irvine gets wrapped up by a Peck defender.
Irvine fumbles.
Ed Wisneski makes a catch.
Dontell Hamilton burns the North Huron defense for one of his four scores.
Nick Mills get a block from a teammate.
