The Patriots took an important step to achieving that goal as they beat defending state champion BCAS 4-0 and Deckerville 9-0 to win the regional title in Bay City.
Jillian Williamson was stellar, with 14 K's in a two hitter in game one and struck out 17 in a perfect game against the Eagles.
It wasn't nearly as successful of a day for other Thumb area teams as North Huronn's perfect season was ended by BCAS 7-1. The host Cougars beat Ubly 8-0 in the finals. The Bearcats advanced with a 6-2 win over Hale in the semis.
