We're back and better than ever...

We're finally back with an update and look for much more inlcuding some pics tonight or tomorrow from the various league meets from Dryden (NCTL) and Brown City (GTE).
Patriots win GTW championship
A double-header sweep of Bad Axe, gave USA the wins they need to secure the league title on Monday, May 12.
In a 4-2 win in the opener, Heath Schmidt went the distance, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk, while striking out one. At the plate, Heath sparked the offense with a single and two RBIs, while Tyson Valentine added a solo homer in the fourth and Tim Holland an RBI single in the sixth.
For the Hatchets, Pete Salens took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out three in six innings of work.
Offensively for Bad Axe, Aaron Manenti drove in the team’s only two runs with a double in the fourth.
In game two, USA’s Matias Kraynak struck out 10, while scattering six hits and two walks in a complete game 9-2 win over the Hatchets. Tim Rader allowed seven hits and four walks in a losing effort for Bad Axe.
At the plate, USA got two this each from Shane Schmidt, Lance VanHoost and Kelson Gettel, while the Hatchets got a pair of knocks from Chris Smith.

Warriors win sixth straight North title
North Huron continued their dominance of the NCTL North for another season, as the Warriors used a double-header sweep of Caseville to win their sixth straight league crown.
In game one, North Huron’s Mike Nienaltowski tossed a two-hitter and struck out eight to lead his team to a 13-0 blanking of Caseville.
While Nienaltowski was dominant on the mound, he was just as good at the plate. Nienaltowski led the offense with a pair of hits, while Tyler Preston also added two knocks. Jon Iseler, Nick Peterson, Myke Schmidt, Cam Schmidt and Erik Dhyse also had hits for the Warriors.
The Eagles got hits from Justin Avalos (double) and Cody Sharp (single) in the opener.
In the nightcap, Peterson struck 10 and helped North Huron secure a 12-4 win.
Offensively, Nienaltowski led the attack with a double and three singles, while Cam Schmidt had a triple and two singles, Peterson a double and two singles, Anthony Irvine a triple and a single, and Jon Iseler two singles.
Tim Schafer led Caseville with a single.
With the sweep, North Huron improved to 19-5 overall and 13-3 in league play.
Soccer roundup:
Bad Axe 8, Cass City 0
The Hatchets got three scores from Jennifer Morneau and two from Mandy McCracken en route to a shut out win over the Red Hawks.
Shayna Polega, Katie Essian and Sarah Thoms also scored for Bad Axe, while Jackie Rochefort added for assists. McCracken, Jennifer Morneau, Justine Morneau and Essian also had assists for the Hatchets.
In net, Thoms and Allyson Mattice combined for the shutout.
EPBP 8, Marlette 0
The Lakers improved to 10-3-2 overall and 8-0 in the GTC with a win over the Red Raiders.
Megan Jobes had three goals and an assist for EPBP, while Brittany Albrecht added a pair of scores. Stephanie Maxwell contributed a goal and an assist.
Kaycee Damm and Katie Beachy also scored for the Lakers, while Jackie Yoder, Julia Voelker and Shaina Damm each had assists.
Beth Ritter earned the shutout in net with four saves.
Harbor Beach 8, Sandusky 0
Jennifer Sorenson dominated the game early with a pair of goals to give the Pirates a 2-0 edge at the half. She added a second half score to complete her first hat trick of the season.
Sorenson’s hat trick wasn’t the only “first” in this game, as Kaylee Mazure, Kara Hess and Sam Essenmacher each scored their first goal of the season against the Redskins. “Kara told me not to give her an easy opportunity goal, so I didn’t. She worked hard for it just the way she wanted,” coach Jeff Hall
Heidi Grekowicz also had a strong game for Harbor Beach as she added two scores, while controlling the game from center midfield. “She played solid in the center of the field for us,” Hall said.

Caseville 8, North Huron 7

Jodie Pettit picked up the win on the mound for the Warriors in game one, while helping her own cause with a double and two singles at the plate. Sarah Piotter had two doubles and a single, while Nicole Church added a pair of singles and Abby Knoblock a triple.
In the nightcap, Alicia Schramski singled, while Pettit added a double.
