Lakers heading to Regional Finals

Well the Laker soccer team made easy work of Byron with an 8-0 mercy last night. With a flurry of scoring in the last 20 minutes of the half (three goals), I thought they might have just ended it there.
But credit should go to the Byron goalie who made some tough stops.
Just call it a vibe, but I think the way the Lakers are playing this team is finals bound. I'll take it a step further and an add that we just had our first (in at least modern times) back-to-back state champions in any sport... Ubly in girls' track. My prediction: USA softballalso repeats and Lakers win their title, too. Three State Champions in one season... could it be possible?

Here comes the rain on the parade. Laker has the talent and is a solid enough program to reach the state semifinals. There's no doubt about it. But, the Metro Detroit schools are where the state powerhouses lie for this sport. Looking at the rankings, it might be wide open, but I've seen too many Muth teams fall in the semifinals to Metro Detroit schools.

I'm ready to hitch my horses to the bandwagon, and it would be awesome to see the Lakers bring home a title, but I have reservations.

Dave,
I've got a burger and a beer or the beverage of your choosing (for the next time you're back in Michigan) that says the Lakers win it.
You up for a little wager?

Hey Chris, nice job with the soccer pics. Too bad soccer doesn't get covered right A Fan?

I see the Lakers making it as far as the semis, but it will be tough for them to get any further.

Chris, even though you don't know my identiy, I'll take you up on that bet. Not that I'm rooting against the Lakers, but like Dave said, it will be a different story when they run into one of those Metro Detroit schools.

I'll take you up on that.

Goods exchanged for entertainment purposes only, folks. I'd love nothing more than to see Laker win the whole thing so I'm the one buying.

Oh, and I'll modify that, too. I'll bring some Klements brats (yes, the ones in the sausage races) and some beverage of choice (I can bring the local ale, if need be).

Hey Mumbles,
People say that soccer doesn't get the coverage it deserves, but I think in the scheme of things areas soccer teams get covered as much if not more than area baseball or softball teams.
In fact soccer, is my second favorite sport in the Spring to shoot next to track. But like you said it doesn't get covered much... or at least blogger "A Fan" doesn't think so.
Here's guessign "A Fan" is a parent who wants to see her duaghter in the paper eevery week... just a guess.

Dave,
Two brats and a beer will taste pretty good next time I see you. Just don't bring Randall Simon with those Wisconsin brats.

Mumbles,
I'll take the bet. If you win, we'll just ahve to figure out a way to meet up for a meal (maybe you wear a paper bag over your head like Lion's fsans do so you can maintain your secret identity.

I'll take the new Mexican sausage, it's my favorite.

In an unrelated note: It's interesting you mentioned the sausage races Dave, since I'll be at Miller Park on Aug. 4. The highlight of the trip will surely be seeing the sausage race live. It beats the heck out of the Dunkin' Donut Race at Comerica Park.

Here comes Cuppy Coffee down the stretch, you can almost taste the excitement. But if I'm in left field, I can't see the excitement. My personal favorite is Dashing Donut, though.

Oh by the way, good work with the soccer coverage no matter what others might think.
