Getting the band back together?

For those fans of high school basketball, one thing that I have definitely missed about this season (and football for that matter, too) is doing the Thumb Tailgaters Show with my buddies Eddie "Mr. Deckerville" Fury and Paul Adams.
It was a lot of hard work, but always worth it.
We delved into our own audio for football with coaches interviews and our own weekly show, but if you aren't doing that as a lead into a game...well let's just say as the old format was, it wasn't conducive to doing that type of show.
Which made me wonder, where am I going to get my fix.
The answer came in a recent e-mail from Eddie, in which he invited Paul and I to join him and Rick Glaza on the air at some point during Monday's North Huron @ Owen-Gage game, which can be heard on 102.1 WLEW starting at 7:15 p.m.
All the details haven't been hammered out as to whether we'll join them pre-game, halftime, both, or maybe even at points during the game. But I do know that I'm certainly lookign forward to getting the "band back together" even if it is "for one night only."
Hopefully this will lead to more opportunities to team up in the future, as I think the fans have really noticed the void, which began last season in football.
So what do you think? Are you as excited as I am? Let me know, with your comments, opinions, etc.

I don't really miss the pregame show because I never listened to it anyways. By the time I got home from work, grabbed the kids and a bite to eat, it was time to hit the road again for the game. There never seemed to be time to tune in. Most people I know have said the same thing. Maybe the people who didn't go out to the games or don't work listened.

I did like what you did for football and I was one of those who like to listen to the coaches comments. I could've done without Paul P asking all the questions, though.

J,
Why is it that people who want to be so negative never leave their actual name.
Here you are throwing criticism at me and taking a shot at me, but have to hide behind a single letter instead of using your name?
Now something constructive or a nice way to ask would have been to say:
I did like listening to the coach's comments, but why did it seem like Paul asked more questions than you.
To that I would have answered I can never get him to shut up in an interview...Just kidding, LOL...
Seriously, I would have said that every interview is different and in some cases one person will ask more questions than the other. I have done hundreds of interviews with Paul over the years and I would imagine there a pretty equal number of interviews where he asks more, I ask more and we ask about the same.
You are basing your snide comment off of a small sampling of all the interviews I have done.
Additionally, we both write very different stories if you have ever read our work. In some instances, you only need a few questions to get what you need for a story or you might need more in his case.
In many instances, when one of us asks more questions, it is merely because we have asked some of the questions that the other person was going to pose.
Now that I've taken you through interviewing 101, I hope you have a better idea of what goes on.
And if you don't like the work I do or don't find me knowledgeable, etc. as your little snide comment insinuates, like I don't know what is going on or something or am just sitting there letting someone else do the work, please feel free to seek out other blogs to get your info from.
If I have misconstrued any of your comments, I apologize and please feel free to correct me.
However, the tone of your post comes off very negative.

As for your comment about no one listening to the pre-game show, I think the feedback we have been given is quite different.
It doesn't surprise me though when people like to generalize their own experiences and make them sound like everyone else agrees.
For the record, based on what I know, advertising slots on the show were in high demand. So many businesses seemed to know what you didn't, that a lot of people were listening to the show.

Final rant I promise...
If your little comment is meant as a dig at Paul Adams, which it could be construed as, then you are a bigger fool than I thought.
If that is your intention, you shouldn't be disrespecting the hardest working sports writer in the Thumb. He puts more heart and soul into high school sports then any other reporter, editor, etc. this area has ever seen...past, present or future.
If you don't know how to appreciate talent like that...well there might not be much hope for you.

I like the pre-game shows and the post game wrap up it gives a listener much needed insight to the game. I especially like when coaches or sometimes players are interviewed and give there insight. Jordan Kaufman was interviewed at the Ubly vs Yale game and really did well for a young kid.

Chris:

Wow, where do I start. How about my name. Ever since I was a little kid, I've gone by J. My dad gave me the nickname. It is a long story about me and my late grandpa.

Sorry if I upset youwith my comments, but I truly never found the time to tune in. You know how it is, you always think, I'll try to make time next week, but next week never seems to come. I don't doubt you when you say listenership was high, I'm just telling you why I don't miss it, because I never listened to it.

As far as the Paul P thing, I meant no disrespect to you or Paul. I actually subscibe to both papers and think you guys do a great job. I just think he asks a lot more questions than you do.

Anyway, next time you ask for our opinions about something, how about I just keep mine to myself.

Have a good day.

J
