Best hoops movie...

Just another chance for you bloggers to share your thoughts. With the District tournament underway and NCAA March Madness just around the corner, it might be time to catch a good basketball movie to get in the right mood before hoops disrupts our normal viewing habits.
So if were going to get your pre-NCAA fix with a hoops video, what would it be? Here's the only catch... it's got to be something other than Hoosiers (I've got a feeling that would have been all of our answers).
I'm going to have to think of my answer for this one; it is a stumper. I'll post it later this morning.

This one took awhile. Kudos to the moderator for coming up with such a tough question (LOL).
My pick for best basketball film, it is Finding Forrester.
A collective huh is heard from the three guys who know I have a blog. Forrester is about an inner city youth who befriends a famous, but reclusive author played by Sean Connery.
Jamal's skills improve to the point that his teacher's think he is cheating, which leads to a pretty awesome seen at the end of the game.
But oh the basketball, Jamal is recruited to play ball at a prestigious prep school. When he is accused of cheating, a booster tells him to win the State Title and the cheating allegations will go away and he'll be given more manageable class next year.
I won't spoil what happens, but let's just say that kid has guts. And yes I think he did it on purpose.
As for worst mvoies, Eddie (Whoopi Golberg as Knicks coach) and Celtic Pride (Dan Akroyd's worst movie since that alien movie with Kim Bassinger).

How about Blue Chips? You have to love anythin Nick Nolte does. And that was some great acting from Shaq and Penny Hardaway.

Basketball Diaries with Leo DiCaprio (sp?) isn't that bad. It's more about going into a drug-induced tailspin than hoops.

And it's better than Teen Wolf. Or Air Bud. Or Air Bud 2.

Dave,
I liked basketball diaries. Crazy movie where we first started to see the potential of Leo Dicrapio.

Mumbles,
I like Nick Nolte, too. My ony question is, do you know who played the player who got the tractor? Did he turn out to do anything in the NBA or anything?

The kid that got the tractor for his family was Ricky something real name Matt Nover. I believe he played at Indiana for Bobby Knight. I think he was a pro for about a minute.
My favorite is the classic Hoosiers. I have to watch it every time it's on. Small town hoops. Can't get better than that.
