Lakers win outright GTW title

It's not how you start it is how you finish. The Lakers were 0-2 to start the season and 1-3 overall, but with four straight wins, including a 34-27 win over Cass CIty tonight, they have claimed an outright GTW championship, their first since 2002. With a win over Sandusky, 39-6 loser to Ubly this week, they will also claim a playoff berth.
The Red Hawks trailed by seven and had the ball on around the 10 yard line, facing a fourth and one with 10 seconds left. They opted for a pass play and it was incomplete.
In talking with several reporters on the sideline, the feeling was that Cass City had the time to rush forward for a first and then spike the ball, which would have given them one last chance to tie the game and send it to overtime.
This loss all but eliminated the Red Hawks from the post-season, as they are 5-3 right now and would need a miracle to beat Almont in Week 9.
Stev Jias will have his own report from the game, along with audio, etc.
