Ubly wins big and other scores

Ubly picked up a big 53-14 winner over Bad Axe tonight, rushing for 450 yards as a team. Jordan Kaufman rushed for 137 yards on five carries and had three scores including a 50 yard scamper on a broken play. It started as a pass play, but when Bad Axe pressured Kaufman, he rolled out and ended up rushing up the Hatchet sideline for the score.
But the really story was that tonight the team was able to let loose and have fun. Eric LaBuhn, the 6'7" 315 pound lineman played running back in the first series or two. Coach Sweeney had promised him in the summer if they were 8-0 heading into the Bad Axe game he could run and he ended up scoring on a one yard run.
Richard Shatto, who has been the team's extra point kicker when the team is way ahead, conencted with one tonight for what I believe is his first extra point of the year. It had good distance and floated over the goal posts...the team went wild.
Kaufman played coach when the second and third team was in, mentoring backup Adam Glaza and calling the plays as well.
And when Sweeney called for the last team offense, he joked with Paul and I, telling us, "Get in their guys."
Overall a fun, but rainy night. But it will be back to business for the Bearcats come Monday as they start preparing for their open rounding opponent.
Pictures of this game will be up soon.
In other scores:
Lakers 34, Sanduksy 16...Jias's uopdate will be up soon...
Deckerville 50, CPS 14
Au Gres Sims 49, North Huron 7
BCAS by 8 over Carrolton...COugars in the playoffs, they are a team I didn't figure as a win, but thiought they would get in by playoff points.
