The Bearcats continue to do some amazing things this season. Tonight's 65-6 win over Genesee was full of those types of efforts. Let's review a few:
1. Ubly rushed for 558 yards and passed for 25 for 583 total yards.
2. The Bearcats held a Genesee team that averaged 39 ppg to six points, with that score coming on a fluke play.
3. Jordan Kaufman rushed for 151 yards on 8 carries and had 5 TDs in about 1 1/2 quarters worth of rushed. That is a 19 yards per carry average. To put his effort in perspective, three times in MHSAA history has someone scored 5 TDs in a quarter, Kaufman had 4 in the first. To make the record books for TDs in a game you need 7 (it ranges from low of 7 to high of 11 in records) and Kaufman got 5 in 1 1/2 quarters. Had he continued to rush, he certainly would have made the list.
4. Four other running backs had over 10 yards per carry average:
Mitch Cleary 7 carries for 77 yards (2 TDs) for an average of 11 ypc
Alex Peruski 6 carries for 62 yards for 10 ypc avg.
Jordan Terrasi 4 carries for 73 yards for an 18 ypc avg.
Jimmy Shaw, the JV fukllback this year, 3 carries for 45 yards (2 TDs) for a 15 ypc avg.
5. The team held Wolve's QB Jordan Cook, who averaged over 340 total yards of offense per game during the season, to well under 200.
Just an amazing overall effort by the Bearcats. We'll have some audio up from both Ubly coach Bill Sweeney and QB Jordan Kaufman later tonight.
Other scores we have:
Dryden 50, Memphgis 12
Deckerville 45, MCC Mooney 14
Nouvel 24, Lakers 7 (I think that is the final)

I forgot to add that the 491 points for Ubly is the most in school history, surpassing the 2003 team that scored 457 points in 2003, in which the team played 13 total games.
With at least 10 points in their next game, Ubly will make the list of top teams (minimum 500 points in a season).
If they score their average of 50, they be at 541 for the season, which would put them in the top 40 all time and put them within striking distance of the Thumb's best offense ever, the 2004 USA team, which scored 581 points and averaged 41.5 ppg.
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but something for fodder...
If the Bercats make it to the semis and average 37 ppg (111 points)for those three games, they will make the 600 club. In MHSAA history, only 9 teams have scored over 600 points in a season.
Could be fun the rest of the way...

Can we get some pictures of the line on here too? Like Big Man Eric LaBuhn or O'Connor. We all know that Kaufman puts on a hell of a show, and I'm not knocking him for it. But there has to be a line to let him do it right?
Thanks! And great covereage!
We appreciate Ubly's line, too, which is why we asked Kaufman about how great his line is when we interviewed him after the game.
As for O'Connor, his pci is up today and LaBuhn has been featured in three or four pictures on the blog in recent week.
However, we will continue to try and feature as many kids as we can on the blog.
Thanks for the great coverage! It's nice to even see some recognition for the young players that practice hard every day against the starting offense and defense. I think the coaching staff did a great job this year putting subs in and getting them not only actual game time experience but to make them feel like part of this great team.
Anonymous,
I agree. A big part of the story of this team is how well the second teamers have done when given all their palying time. They didn't miss a beat.
Even the third string yesterday (the JV) looked determined not to give up the score. I also thought freshman Jimmy Shaw had a nice game, too.
Ubly looks tough, Dryden beware.
