A look at Ubly & Laker's opponents

In lieu of an audio update, partly due to time constraints and also because I want to give people time to enjoy the CC updates, I've opted to post this info which will appear in this week's paper instead.

Playoff opponents
Two are teams have advanced to this year’s post-season. Fans are certainly familiar with the local squads, but here are some things you might know about their opposition:
Genesee (6-3) @ Ubly (9-0)
· The Wolves head into the post-season for the first time since 2006, a year in which they lost to Ubly 43-0 in their district opener.
· Genesee, who competes in the Genesee Area Conference, finished in a three way tie for second place in their league with a 4-2 league record.
· Averaged 39 ppg and allowed 30 ppg defensively.
· Genesee is 1-3 this season against teams that made the playoffs, with their lone win coming against GAC league champion Burton Bentley 77-40. In that game, QB Garret Cook was 13-for-22 for 276 yards with six TDs and three interceptions. He also rushed for 160 yards and two scores in that game, while returning a kick for a score and recording an interception on defense.
· For the season, Cook has 965 yards rushing with 13 TDs and 2,055 yards passing for 26 TDs with 16 interceptions. Receiver Ryan Buchler has 816 yards and 13 scores, while Tyler Peltonen has 929 yards and 10 TDs. Their next best rusher is Dumarias Butler with 340 yards and three scores.
· The Wolves have faced GTC teams five times in the last 40 years with them winning three times (three wins all against Mayville).

EPBP (6-3) @ Saginaw Nouvel (9-0)
· Nouvel won the state title last year in Division 6 and are currently on a 14 game win streak.
· The team is scoring 39 ppg on offense and allowing just 11 ppg on defense.
· Nouvel is 4-1 against GTC teams all-time with their lone loss coming to Reese, 26-19 in 2005. They do own a 13-7 win over EPBP in their only meeting in 1991.
· By making the post-season, Nouvel extended its playoff streak to 10 straight years.
· QB Ryan Henris had his best effort of season in win over John Glenn recently, where he was 12-of-15 passing for 244 yards and three scores. In that contest, Chris Jacobs and Sam Hebert, his main targets on offense, had 108 and 102 receiving yards respectively.
· The team’s top rusher is Ryan Miller, who rushed for 165 yards and two TDs in a win over St. Joan of Arc (from Canada) in Week 9.
